Scout Jentaz is an influential Tanzanian artist who played a foundational role in the early 2000s Bongo Flava era. He is primarily known for his association with the Bongo Records collective, where he became a key voice in the "Monstah" hip-hop subculture. Rather than a solo superstar, Scout Jentaz was a prolific collaborator whose high-energy style and versatile vocal delivery made him a favorite for major group projects and street anthems in Dar es Salaam.
He is most famous for his contribution to the 2004 classic "Nipe Tano," a song by Daz Baba featuring the Daz Nundaz and Sewa Side crews. On this track, his signature rhythmic "O O" rhymes and lyrical flow alongside the production of P-Funk Majani helped define the urban sound of the period. Beyond performing, he was deeply embedded in the "Sewa Side" movement, which was celebrated for its rugged authenticity and community-driven approach to hip-hop. Today, his work is considered a vital blueprint for the evolution of Tanzanian rap and R&B.
